Introduction
A recently-described monotypic genus from grassland habitats above 800 m. in the Serra do Mar and Serra Geral mountain ranges of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil.Characteristics
The rounded apical margin of the forewings and the complete series of subapical eyespots on the fore and hindwings are considered diagnostic features of Prenda clarissa (Freitas et al. 2011).Discussion of Phylogenetic Relationships
Prenda clarissa is hypothesized to be the sister taxon of Taydebis peculiaris based on DNA sequence data. The two species also share the rounded wing shape and features of the male genitalia (a long cornutus on the vesica of the edeagus) (Freitas et al. 2011).References
