Discussion of Phylogenetic Relationships
The two genera in the Anoeciidae are probably not closely related and the group is possibly polyphyletic.Notes about Terminal Taxa
The life cycles of Aiceona and Anoecia are very different as are most morphological traits.Aiceona is East Asian and mostly lives on Lauraceous trees, does not host alternate, and (interestingly) produces sexual females and males all year. In addition, the sexual females are winged or usually winged, which is rare in aphids.
Anoecia host alternate between Cornus and mainly grasses. Sexual males and females are wingless and deposited by sexuparae in Anoecia, similar to Hormaphididae and Pemphigidae. However, in contrast to the Hormaphididae and Pemphigidae, the sexuales feed and grow (but still are sedentary and rather small as adults).
